After a 2011 goal for Manchester City against Manchester United, Mario Balotelli lifted his shirt and revealed a T-shirt bearing the words: “Why always me?”
“I did it for many reasons,” Balotelli explained. “But I’ll leave it for other people to figure out what it means. I’m sure people can work it out.”
He later suggested it meant: “Just leave me alone.”
Whatever it meant, Mario Balotelli was wrong to say it was always him – he’s far from the only footballer ever to score goals, have a dodgy haircut or be terrible for Liverpool.
Perhaps he was confusing himself with Italy’s other – more famous – super Mario…
